Lead Your Musical Journey with Mrs. Van Deventer!

Meet Mrs. Van Deventer, a cornerstone of NW Musikon and an inspiring leader in Piano & Music Theory! Her deep passion for music began in Vereeniging, where she achieved her UNISA Grade 8 in piano in her matric year (under the guidance of Phyllis Bishoff!)

Mrs. Van Deventer’s dedication blossomed at the North-West University of Potchefstroom, where she earned her Higher Diploma in Education (cum laude) in 1991, specializing in Afrikaans, instrumental music (piano and organ), and music theory. Before joining NW Musikon, she shared her musical gifts at various schools across the country and served as an organist for several churches, even conducting and training choirs!

After relocating to Klerksdorp in 2005, Mrs. Van Deventer enriched ST Conrad’s College as an Afrikaans and Arts and Culture teacher until 2009. There, she was the driving force behind the school choir and musical activities, directing vibrant musicals and revues!

Her profound love for music led her to NW Musikon in 2009, when the school was first registered as a Departmental school. She quickly became the Head of Department, passionately contributing to the school’s establishment. Her leadership was recognized when she was appointed acting principal in January 2017 by the School Governing Body.

Mrs. Van Deventer’s commitment to excellence never wanes! In 2015, she delivered a stunning piano recital for Trinity College of London, earning her prestigious Licentiate Diploma (LTCL). She further advanced her educational expertise, completing her B.Ed Honours degree (cum laude) in Education Management and Law Systems in July 2018.

Today, Mrs. Van Deventer passionately teaches piano to students of all levels, from eager beginners to advanced Grade 8 musicians. Join her and unlock your full musical potential!
