Trombone, Euphonium & Tuba
Trombones produce sound as they are extended and contracted. They have continued to evolve since their creation in the 15th century. The Euphonium is a brass instrument smaller than but resembling a tuba and having a range from B flat below the bass staff upward for three octaves. Tubas look similar to euphoniums, but are far greater in sound. They are famed for their low range.
When starting out with any brass instrument, it is of vital importance that aspects like posture, breathing and sound production be correctly applied. But fear not, our very own “Brassy Lady”, Mrs. Elmien Els, has you covered. Being an active brass player for more than 40 years, Elmien Els has performed along side such orchestras as the SANDF Wind Orchestra, South African National Wind Orchestra and the Transvaal Youth Symphony Orchestra.
