About the Eisteddfod
Founded in 2012, the Rina de Bruyn Eisteddfod has evolved to become thé platform for young artists to showcase their craft in the North-West Province – be it music, drama, dance or visual art.
CRITIQUE THROUGH A POSITIVE LENS
Lights, Camera…MAGIC!
Expert adjudicators, whom are at the top of their respective fields, provide participants with invaluable critique on their performance. This can be considered the core focus area of the Rina de Bruyn Eisteddfod, as all critique is done through a positive lens.
For those students taking their international examinations, this is a golden opportunity to incorporate the adjudicator’s notes into their final exam preparation.
MUSIC
From solo performances (vocal and instrumental) to ensembles (choirs, bands, orchestras), participants can explore various genres and styles. Adjudication focuses on technical skill, musicality, interpretation, and stage presence, encouraging growth and appreciation for the art of music.
DRAMA
Participants can explore a range of theatrical forms & poetry, from monologues and duologues to larger ensemble plays. Adjudication considers elements such as character development, vocal projection, stage presence, interpretation of the text, and overall dramatic impact.
VISUAL ART
Visual art celebrates creativity and artistic expression through a variety of mediums. From painting and drawing to sculpture, photography, and mixed media. This category encourages exploration, experimentation, and the power of visual communication to inspire and engage.
DANCE
From ballet and jazz to contemporary and cultural dances, participants can explore diverse styles and techniques. Adjudication considers elements such as technical proficiency, choreography, musicality, performance quality, and stage presence. Dance celebrate creativity, physical expression, and the power of movement to tell stories and evoke emotions.
CHOIR
The Cantando Choir Festival brings together groups of singers to perform a diverse range of choral music. Performances are evaluated by adjudicators who assess technical aspects such as vocal tone, intonation, and ensemble precision, as well as artistic interpretation, dynamics, and stage presence.
